Sometimes the detail is worth a closer look. The dark objects are pieces of glass built into the wall.

We removed the paint without roughening the glass.
   
The beams in this old grain warehouse which had originally been towed across the Atlantic by a steam ship as a giant raft were a lovely colour after blasting.
